Rafael Riqueni is considered to be one of the most creative and versatile innovators of the modern flamenco guitar. This video provides a summary of his artistic work. He plays and explains 10 selected pieces from his repertoire: 3 Bulerías, Fantasía, Garrotín, Rumba, Soleá, Tangos, Taranta as well as his famous Fandango "Al Niño Miguel". Each toque is first played at normal speed and then explained step by step and in full detail. Besides these technical explanations the origin of each palo is also briefly commented on. The professional accompaniment by two percussionists is certainly a very useful help for the understanding of the complex rhythms that form the basis of most of the pieces. This video undoubtedly meets the highest technical and artistical standards - an intriguing challenge for every true aficionado!
